Biomechanical Assessment
The podiatrist will start by taking a detailed history of your concerns and the injury/pain you are experiencing. Further non weight bearing and weight bearing assessment will be carried out to specifically examine the movement available in your feet and lower body, the function of your muscles (strength and weakness), tendons and ligaments to identify problems with alignment, structure, and function.

Gait Analysis
Gait analysis is used to identify underlying functional and mechanical problems which may be contributing to pain. Instability or weakness in the spine, pelvis, hips, knees, ankles and/or feet whilst walking, running or playing sport is also assessed. Further information may be acquired through video analysis whilst walking or running, and if chosen, we use leading Footscan® technology for more in-depth gait analysis looking at pressure, balance and forces placed on the foot during motion. Asymmetries or abnormalities in our foot strike and loading pattern can cause joint, muscle, ligament or tendon soreness further up the body in the ankle, knee, hip and back.

Orthotics and Insoles
Using the above information to devise your personalised treatment plan, we will discuss if orthoses can help. We offer these medical devices which are prescribed following proper assessment.
A 3D scan or moulds are taken to ensure seamless fitting to your foot
Orthotics can be pre-formed, bespoke or customised.
For best results, orthoses are often prescribed in conjunction with stretching/strengthening exercises and
footwear adaptations which will improve how your foot interacts with the ground and in turn, can help
reduce foot, ankle, knee, hip and lower back injury, pain or injury.

As part of your treatment plan it may be necessary to refer you to health professionals such as Physiotherapists and Orthopedic/Podiatric surgeons.
We can request appropriate investigations such as x-ray, ultrasound and MRI
